Job Description


General Description:
Responsible for accepting and directing calls from families in need. Assisting callers by issuing referrals for services and assisting case managers with comprehensive case management services that assist low- and moderate-income families following a hardship. This case management project takes a holistic approach to the client’s biological, psychological, and social needs. The reception position at Some Other Place serves clients of all religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Executive Director

In conjunction with the Director, the Receptionist also works with the Case Manager, community leaders, other social service agencies, volunteers and clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in gathering information for multi-dimensional assessment of client needs.
  • Provide assistance with application submission.
  • Perform outreach activities intended to identify families needing support and assistance following hardship.
    provide referrals to appropriate medical, psychological and social work professionals when the need of the client indicates such actions.
  • Assists with administering financial assistance in accordance with the procedures provided.
  • Attend periodic training or workshops as needed and relative to the position.
  • Network with existing social service agencies, psychological and psychiatric resources to establish referrals and outreach models.
  • Perform other duties as required by Director , such as preparing for, attending and/or supporting special events and projects.

Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, functional supervision of volunteers may be required periodically.

Minimum Education:
Graduation from an accredited High School or GED.

General Qualifications:
Background in casework, psychology or social work and experience working with people of low-income.
Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse cultures.
Proven leadership, administrative and organizational abilities.
Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
Must have adequate/available and reliable transportation.
The employee must provide a copy of their valid Driver’s license and proof of personal automobile insurance to the Administration Office.

Equipment Used:
Telephone, personal computer, copier and fax machine.

Working Conditions:
Work is carried out in a controlled, agreeable environment as generally represented by Some Other Place. Client assistance can also take place at other locations. All travel will be pre-approved by the Executive Director.

Job requires ability to hear and talk; strong writing skills; analytical, conceptual, problem –solving and decision-making skills; and handling multiple tasks within the confines of deadlines.

Work Performance Measures:

  • Must maintain high level of knowledge of the program, its requirements, functions, and status, etc.

General Description:
Responsible for volunteer recruitment and social media outreach. This position facilitates Some Other Place’s Back to School, Thanksgiving and Christmas Giving Tree programs. In addition to public awareness and volunteer recruitment for the afore mentioned programs. Volunteer coordination and organization is paramount. This position is also tasked with completing weekly check in’s with all other SOP programs so that the social media content is current and relative and each program maintains the appropriate amount of volunteers.

Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: President / Executive Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in gathering and coordinating volunteers and information for multi-dimensional assessment of client needs and program logistics.
  • Provide support to help maintain appropriate documentation of client files (confidential case files.)
  • Provide support to help secure and maintain accurate service delivery.
  • Submit all necessary documents to Executive Director for review before publicizing.
  • Provide assistance with preparation and submission of applications.
  • Assist with organization, management, and distribution of merchandise.
  • Perform outreach activities intended to identify families needing support and assistance following disaster.
  • With direction from Executive Director, keep SOP Social Media up to date.
  • Attend periodic training or workshops as needed and relative to the position.
  • Network with existing social service agencies, and school resources to establish referrals and outreach models.
  • Perform other duties as required by Director, such as preparing for, attending and/or supporting special events and projects. Examples include: assisting with outreach activities, participating in staff retreats, agency fairs and speaking engagements, as deemed applicable.
