John Terry Moore Thanksgiving Store

Some Other Place sets up a “grocery store” and invites prescreened families to come to “shop” for their Thanksgiving Day meal. Each family chooses the particular foods they desire and are provided with fresh produce, dairy products and gift cards for their choice of meat. Each year Some Other Place serves over 500 families through this program.

Christmas Giving Tree Program

Special Christmas assistance is provided through the “Giving Tree” program. Approximately 1,000 children of families who have been prescreened are served through this program. Christmas wishes of these children are shared with Some Other Place supporters and gifts are presented to parents/guardians to give to the children on Christmas Day.

Some Other Place serves a traditional Christmas Day lunch on Christmas Day. Volunteers for Christmas day come from the Temple Emanuel congregation.

Back to School Program

Some Other Place provides school clothing and school supplies for approximately 1,000 children every year. Some Other Place coordinates with local schools to determine what is needed for the student's grade level, to assure the proper need is met for that individual student.
